Can I install this CB on my Interstate?
I have purchased a small Radio Shack CB that I was planning to install, but then I saw this listed on Craiglist:

....and wondered if it was something I could install instead. I have an 87 Interstate that has never had a CB or a factory radio, so is there major wiring and/or components that I would need in addition to the radio?

Yes, radio and some added components will all be needed. They were a set. It would be a major undertaking in ebay hunt for all the components but probably a fun project if you have the $$$...

Find the install manual for the Radio/CB etc etc here:

Read and you'll see it will be quite a undertaking. I also know this because my GL1200a "Had" a CB but the PO sold it for cash so I had the radio, junction boxes but no CB. I bought a CB but then it didn't work because the Junction Boxes were bad on the bike as well. I've slowly been buying these parts to make the CB work again however I can tell you it is COSTLY...

Save yourself the bother of trying to purchase older parts. If you want a CB and intercom or just the CB go with the J&M handlebar mounted unit you can plug your mp3 player in it too. http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?cat=371 no not cheap.

I would work on installing your radio shack unit. with a little ingenuity you can hook it up with headset and mike.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

Sounds like the Radio Shack option is the right one for my budget. Thanks for the info!
