New Member in the UK
Hi all my name is Nigel :YMHUG: :YMHUG:
I live in Warton on the North West cost of the UK, if there any older member on here the came to the UK in WW2 as bomber crews where i live was called as BAD2.
I have just got my second GL1200 the last one was totaled when a car hit me nearly head on in 1998
The new one has needed a bit of work doing to it like fork seals wheel bearings brakes, discs timing belts and a new paint job.
All good fun
Regards Nigel :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Welcome! :YMHUG: , Welcome! ^Smile^ Nigel.

You came to the right place.

In "my time", visiting relatives during the 1950s in London, or working at Oxford, or doing crazy things with Brit friends in the 1970s at Clavele(y?), I had only great times and fond memories.

It was a sad surprise to know you had been hit in 1998. Compared with North America, bikes are as common -- if not more - than autos in the U.K. But in America, bikers are unseen -- ALWAYS -- until just after they are struck by a cager. So certainly driving around Yank cities is an edgy experience. Highways are just a little bit better. Plus mobile phones have made even good drivers dangerous at ANY speed.

So far as your reference to Warton, frequented by WW2 as bomber crews makes me free associate to that terrific movie, "Battle of Britton" made with the U.K.'s greatest actors and amazing special effects. The movie still "works". Here's some footage from the real thing.
I was just a little boy during the real thing, but I still recall one of my grownup cousins (all of 19 years old at the time) who had been a ship's gunner on a destroyer coming home on furlough to a great family reception after an enemy airplane's machine gun bullet had gone through his shoulder. After awhile, cousin Ernie was no worse for the wear.

Happy and safe riding, Nigel!

Welcome to the site.

I remember Warton, I used to ride up that way on my Triumph Tiger back in the 60's.
I used to go potholing at Ingleton and of course riding in the Lake District and other places is a nice memory.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.
