Headset Sound On the 86 Se-i
While re-aquainting myself with my bike I remembered something I did not like. The tone control is on the computer unit and does not change the tone through the headset....only through the speakers. The result is very "trebley" sound through my helmet speakers. Has anyone come up with a way to improve the sound?

I doubt that you will find headsets that will meet your requirement, I think they really are made for voice and in that they function adequately. I do like to listen to music myself when on the bike but the CB is in my opinion the important function of the sound system. I find myself leaving the radio volume low, I have never even tried to improve on the quality of the headsets.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

Well Dave,
I have seen some head sets that claim superb sound quality but, they are kinda pricey. J&M has some replacement speakers that may be better than what you have now. I'm thinking of up grading mine too.

I actually plugged a spendy set in there...VERY little diff. I have Pioneers in the speaker housings...they are fine and I can adjust the tone of course. I am also thinking of wiring in a tone pot just so I can cut that treble a little in the headsets.

well... thats a thought. let me know how it works if you do it. I'm wondering though, if there might be something amiss in the radio. have you tried listening to someone else's 1200 with there head set and with yours to see how it compares?

That's what I'm hoping to verify here...the tone control works fine with the radio, just doesn't work for the headsets. I want to know if this is normal. I'm assuming this could only be verified by LTD or SE-i owners where the tone control is on the travel computer.

Why do you want stereo in your helmet?

Why not just over the stock dash speakers?

Well, to be truthful, I rarely wear a helmet, but when I do that piped in sound can be a big plus if it sounds good. I am a bit of a sound freak...
