I need to replace my sender with a mechanical unit. Has anyone done this? any help would be appreciated thanks.

Yes My friend has a gauge screwed into his. I don't know what fittings were used but it works fine.

You would need to remove the sending unit and match it up with the gauge threads

The threads are JIS, Japanese Industrial Standard which is the same as BSPT, British Standard Pipe Thread which is close to but not exactly the same as NPT, National Pipe Thread. In other words I believe 1/8" NPT will fit but it is not really the right thread. The aluminum is soft enough to accommodate the difference
